Regular readers of UFO Magazine will be familiar with Brian McPhee’s extraordinary daylight video footage of sphere activity filmed almost entirely in his hometown of Sterling, Scotland. It was a telephone call from Brian claiming that he had a new videotape of an object unlike anything that he had filmed before that prompted me to undertake the 900 mile round trip, which also unexpectedly culminated with the sighting of a Flying Triangle UFO above the M9 Motorway.
Stirling itself is a nondescript town situated some 50 miles north of Edinburgh and is steeped in history and legend. The Wallace Monument is an impressive tower erected in memory of Robert the Bruce but the centre of attraction is undoubtedly the formidable Stirling Castle, which stands on top of a natural outcrop.
Brian picked me up at Stirling train station and on the way to his house, described some of the recent UFO activity, which he has been fortunate enough to not only witness, but also videotape. By far the most extraordinary piece of videotape was of an odd multi-segmented grey coloured object filmed in broad daylight, which appears to be travelling blunt edge on. Brian mentioned that he filmed this object the same week that the Mir space station fell back into the Earth’s atmosphere and some had questioned that maybe this was what he had captured on videotape.
However, on the videotape, one can clearly see the object travel in front of cumulus cloud, therefore this would tend to rule out the Mir hypothesis.
Brian also showed me other segments of footage one of which, appeared to depict a triangle-shaped object pass directly over Stirling Castle itself at night as well as numerous other clips depicting spheres performing massive acceleration and sharp-angle turns. We also chatted about the new UFO’s over Scotland documentary produced by the Enigma Channel, which features many never-before seen segments of McPhee’s footage.
The following day was spent sightseeing in Edinburgh, in itself, worth the arduous journey and I can clearly understand why the city has been voted the cultural capital of Europe. Later that evening, I joined up with Brian and Neil Cunningham, a local researcher, and headed to Bonnybridge which, as any ufologist worth his salt will tell you, is the UFO hotspot of Scotland. We visited the Malcolm family who have many hours of UFO activity captured on videotape and were more than happy to share some of the aforementioned footage with us. Rather than outstay our welcome, we decided to round off the evening with a skywatch at a known local vantagepoint. Apart from the occasional satellite, nothing untoward was observed and we decided to head for home at around 12.30am.
After dropping off Brian, we headed back down the M9 motorway toward Edinburgh. As we were approaching the outskirts of Edinburgh, I noticed to my right what I thought to be an aircraft coming in to land and made a passing comment about low-flying aeroplanes. Within the space of a few seconds, the “aircraft” banked sharply to the left and was almost immediately directly over the Motorway which was when both myself and Neil could clearly see three huge red saucer-shaped lights flashing on and off randomly lining the top side of the craft. We could now also clearly discern the outline of a typical deltoid Flying Triangle UFO.
I grabbed the video camera and shouted at Neil to pull over immediately, however it crucially took several seconds for us to come to a halt on the hard shoulder by which time the FT was heading away from us toward a wooded area to our left. I eventually locked on to the object through the viewfinder and shot maybe 10-15 seconds of video. Within 3-4 minutes, the FT had disappeared out of sight and both Neil and myself was left reeling from this encounter. Neil was particularly stunned because he realised that had he stopped the car maybe 30-40 seconds earlier, we would have had in our possession probably the most clearly defined videotape of the elusive Flying Triangle UFO ever captured. But then, there is always next time….
